Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer has passed away. He was 49, and news of his death was confirmed through his official social media channels.

The exact cause of his death has not been announced, but he was hospitalized earlier this month, with reports indicating that he was "extremely drunk, upset and suicidal." The announcement of his death states, "Depression and Suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside."

Troyer rose to fame thanks to his role as Mini-Me in 1999's Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and 2002's Austin Powers in Goldmember. He also played Griphook in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and had small roles in Men in Black, Volcano, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and more.
