Now that he's fully recovered from his COVID-19 diagnosis, Tom Hanks is right back on his grind, as he's now reportedly in talks to star in Disney's live-action Pinocchio reboot.

Prolific Hollywood producer Robert Zemeckis is set to direct, and according to Deadline, Hanks has personally contacted the filmmaker to let him know he wants to do the movie. The two have a solid working relationship it seems, as they've previously teamed up on Forest GumpCast Away and The Polar Express.

Hanks now has set his eyes on the role of Geppetto — the carpenter who creates the mystical wooden "real boy" in Carlo Lorenzini's 19th century novel. The film is currently in pre-production and thus it's uncertain if Hanks will land the role, but as he's proven time and time again, he's definitely cut out for children's stories.

Andrew Miano and Chris Weitz (American Pie) are on board to produce through Depth of Field. Weitz will handle the script.

No word yet on who (or what) will play the film's titular character.
