While promoting her forthcoming war zone comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Tina Fey appeared on the cover of Town + Country. Speaking with the magazine, she explained that things are not as good as they may seem for women in comedy.
In the article, Fey pointed out that she's tired of talking to reporters about how supposedly great things are for women in comedy right now.
"Every single interviewer asked, 'Isn't this an amazing time for women in comedy?'" Fey said. "People really wanted us to be openly grateful – 'Thank you so much!' – and we were like, 'No, it's a terrible time.'
"If you were to really look at it, the boys are still getting more money for a lot of garbage, while the ladies are hustling and doing amazing work for less."
Further, she pointed out some hypocrisy while being interviewed for her film Sisters. The film saw her team up once again with old friend and frequent collaborator Amy Poehler.
According to Fey, reporters would ask what Fey and Poehler fight about after knowing each other for so long.
"And we'd say, 'We fight about the same things Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg fight about. Do you ask them that question?'"
