Published May 08, 2015In 2012, the Farrelly brothers revived slapstick heroes The Three Stooges in a movie that practically nobody liked. Despite a modest profit, the film was by no means a success for really anyone involved. And yet here we are, in 2015, reporting the news that it's getting a sequel.
According to a press release, Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso will all revive their respective roles as Larry, Moe and Curly for the new film, which is being billed as an action comedy. According to the press release, "a major action star will be added to the cast." Here's hoping it's Nicolas Cage.
It's also worth noting that neither 20th Century Fox nor the Farrelly brothers are involved in the new movie. Instead it will be produced by the companies C3, Grand Peaks and the Exchange.
The movie is set to be written by Cameron Fay. Earl Benjamin of C3 said, "With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges and Cameron writing, "this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of The Three Stooges."
It's worth remembering that "truly unique" does not necessarily mean "good."
