Regardless of how you felt about the The X-Files' rancid 10th season, there's no denying that the more episodes the better for true fans of Mulder and Scully. Fortunately, last year's rumours have come to fruition, as the show is officially set to return.
Deadline confirmed that the show is set to return in the 2017-2018 season. The next season will be made up of 10 episodes, which is four more than the previous iteration.
"Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators — these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide," said Fox president David Madden. "Chris's creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can't wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files."
The show will begin production in Vancouver this summer.
