Just over two decades on from his passing, the Gun Club frontman/guitarist Jeffrey Lee Pierce will be the subject of a new feature documentary.
As Deadline reports, a new film titled Elvis from Hell will tell the story of Pierce's life, and it is set for release in 2020. The frontman died of complications relating to heroin addiction, alcoholism and HIV in 1996, aged 37.
The site reveals that the doc will feature original interviews with Nick Cave, Blondie's Debbie Harry, Jack White, Jim Jarmusch, Iggy Pop, Mark Lanegan, Moby and Pierce's former bandmate Kid Congo Powers.
Deadline adds that Elvis from Hell is directed by Heiko Lange (B-Movie: Lust and Sound in West Berlin) and Jessica Andree (The Noise of Cairo).
The Gun Club released seven studio albums between 1981 and 1993. Bands and artists such as R.E.M, Sonic Youth, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and the White Stripes have counted the group amongst their influences.
