After a bunch of teasing, we finally have the first trailer for the hugely anticipated Conjuring 3 — or as it is officially known, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

The third Conjuring film is based on the real-life case of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, who defended himself against manslaughter charges by claiming that he was possessed by the devil during the time of crime. The sequel will again find Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmig reprising their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who take on the case.

However, we are sad to report director James Wan is not on board again for the sequel — something that gives us a different kind of fear — with the film this time being directed by Michael Chaves.

According to an official synopsis, The Devil Made Me Do It "reveals a chilling story of terror, murder, and unknown evil that shocked even these experienced real-life paranormal investigators.

"One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them far beyond anything they've ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defence."

The Warner Bros. film is set to debut in theatres and on HBO Max on June 4.
