The Chainsmokers Are Turning One of Their Songs into a Movie

It's basically 'The Emoji Movie' of music

People love to hate on EDM-lite frat bros the Chainsmokers for their shitty songs and even shittier jokes. But the charts don't lie — while everyone loves to poke fun at the duo's numerous dumb decisions, there are also a lot of people streaming their tunes. And one of those tunes is becoming a movie.

No, we will not see the band's Drew Taggart listening to a Blink-182 song in Tucson with Halsey. At least, not yet. Instead, they're turning their hit single "Paris" into a flick.

The screenplay is being penned by Mickey Rapkin, who previously penned the Pitch Perfect novel that spawned the wildly successful film franchise. In other words, it's a match made in normie heaven.

Plus, the movie will most likely write itself. After all, the opening stanza of the Chainsmokers' "Paris" practically sets the scene for a modern rom-com:

We were staying in Paris
To get away from your parents
And I thought, "Wow
If I could take this in a shot right now
I don't think that we could work this out"
Out on the terrace
I don't know if it's fair but I thought "How
Could I let you fall by yourself
While I'm wasted with someone else"
