Taika Waititi Says 'Thor: Ragnarok' Will "Ignore" Other Marvel Films

The multiple yearly Marvel films are starting to meld together as one in our minds, but if anyone can add some fresh perspective into the franchise it's hilarious New Zealand director Taika Waititi. Before the arrival of his Thor: Ragnarok, the director has promised that we can expect something new from the characters.

In a Reddit AMA, Waititi said that he avoided the pesky universe building that so many other superhero films get caught up in. "I made an effort to ignore the fact that there are other Thor films," he said, adding that he was "trying to ignore the rest of the universe and just make my own awesome movie."

The result is a film that he describes as "out there" and "crazy."

For those hoping that the next Thor will have the same wacky humour as Waititi's previous efforts like What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, they can rest assured. After all, the director said his film will have a "very Taika-esque tone."

Thor: Ragnarok is expected to arrive in late 2017. Until then, watch a mockumentary about the character from Taika Waititi below.
