While comedy fans are undoubtedly rejoicing over the prospect of another season of Silicon Valley, the show's renewal is bittersweet. Today, HBO executives have confirmed that T.J. Miller will not be returning to the show.
For its first four seasons, Miller has stolen scenes with the bumbling tech bro Erlich Bachman. That said, the current season of the show will be the last batch of episodes to include the character.
The Hollywood Reporter has shared a joint statement from HBO, Miller and the show's producers confirming that Miller is exiting the show.
"The producers of Silicon Valley and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for season 5," the statement reads. "In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations."
A reason for the departure was not given, though we can only hope that it was premeditated. After all, we'd love to see how Erlich Bachman flames out at the end of Silicon Valley Season 4.
