Sofia Coppola Taps Nicole Kidman, Kristen Dunst, Elle Fanning for Remake of 'The Beguiled'

Sofia Coppola recently backed out of long-gestating plans to direct a new version of Little Mermaid, but now she's got another (arguably more interesting) remake in the works. The director has now been selected to take on the 1971 drama The Beguiled.

The original film was directed by Don Siegel and starred Clint Eastwood as a Union soldier who cons his way into the hearts of the young women at a Confederate boarding school where he's held captive.

As The Tracking Board first reported, Coppola is set to write and direct the remake. It'll star Nicole Kidman along with some frequent Coppola collaborators, including The Virgin Suicides' Kirsten Dunst and Somewhere's Elle Fanning.

Apparently the filmmakers are currently looking for a "Chris Pratt-type" to take on the lead role. You know who's a great Chris Pratt-type? None other than Chris Pratt.

Stay tuned for more info on The Beguiled as it becomes available.
