Snowden

Trailer

Perhaps in an effort to avoid confusion that it was a light holiday movie about being snowed in, Oliver Stone pushed back his NSA whistleblower flick Snowden. The movie was initially scheduled for release in the spring, but now it's been bumped to September. Today, we get the first full trailer.

Based on this extended look at the film, there are already some problems presenting themselves. For one thing, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has adopted a cartoonish voice to try and sound like the titular Snowden. Then there's Nicholas Cage, who offers the cringeworthy line, "Find the terrorist in the internet haystack."

That said, this move boasts a seriously impressive cast that also includes Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson and Rhys Ifans. Plus, the story of Edward Snowden is so interesting on its own that it would be hard to screw it up entirely.
