Shia LaBeouf to Play Tennis Legend John McEnroe in New Film

America's most treasured actor and artist Shia LaBeouf has taken a break from consoling victims of Shia LaBeouf-related violence to line up some more movies. The actor has now signed on to play tennis great John McEnroe in a new biopic.

The film is called Borg/McEnroe and will highlight McEnroe's legendary showdown against Björn Borg at the Wimbledon final in 1980. It's being directed by Janus Metz.

In addition to casting The Beef as McEnroe, the film will star Sverrir Gudnason as Borg and Stellan Skarsgård. It's set to be released in August of 2017.

LaBeouf offered up an extremely LaBeoufy quote about it while promoting the film American Honey, in which he plays a character named Jake.

"Jake is me. So is McEnroe. That's it, man," he told a Cannes press conference [via USA Today]. "I understand these people, I empathize with them. I get it. You turn things up and turn things down. It's me."

Shia just gets it.
