Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman to Star in New Animated Comedy for HBO Max

'Santa Inc.' will feature the pair as elves in the North Pole

Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman are set to star in a new animated comedy series coming to HBO MaxSanta Inc. will feature Silverman as Candy Smalls, an elf jockeying to be the first female Santa Claus, and Rogen as Santa's presumed successor who takes a job with Amazon instead.

Eight 30-minute episodes of Santa Inc. have been ordered. The show will be written by showrunner Alexandra Rushfield and produced by Rogen's Point Grey Pictures in partnership with Lionsgate.

Said WarnerMedia executive vice-president Suzanna Meklos on the acquisition, "I have long dreamed of a taking a beloved holiday tradition and adding a feminist agenda and some R-rated comedy and when I read this script from Ali, with Seth and Sarah attached to voice, I knew that it was a perfect fit for us at Max."

"Sarah and Seth are the perfect comedy duo for this empowering and very funny animated series shepherded by the hysterical Alexandra Rushfield," said Scott Herbst, Lionsgate's head of scripted development, in a statement. "We look forward to diving into the world of animation with our Point Grey partners, and to bring the holidays to HBO Max in a totally unexpected and fresh way."

No premiere date for Santa Inc. has been set.

As previously reported, HBO Max is set to launch on May 27 with titles including Anna Kendrick's rom-com anthology Love Life, Sesame Street spinoff The Not Too Late Show with Elmo and the Friends reunion. Rogen's upcoming film An American Pickle is set to arrive on the platform later this summer.
