'Serial' Podcast Returns for Third Season

'Serial' Podcast Returns for Third Season
Serial enraptured the world when it debuted in 2014, and again in its 2015-16 season. Now, the hit podcast is set to return for a third season on September 20.
The latest season of the show will once again hear host Sarah Koenig going deep on a particular story, dedicating the entire season to one single investigation. This time around, the podcast is taking on the criminal justice system.
In a trailer, Koenig explains that she spent a year in a Cleveland courthouse, observing regular cases for over a year. Koenig couldn't ignore how many peculiarities — and objectionable actions — happened during the cases she witnessed. As such, the latest season focuses on the ordinary, everyday legal proceedings in Ohio.
It's a far cry from the bizarre Baltimore murder case of Season 1, Season 2's dig into captured American soldier Bowe Bergdahl, and set-in-the-deep-South spinoff series S-Town — but it's already just as addictive.

Serial is a co-production by This American Life and WBEZ Chicago.
