See the Complete List of 2018 Golden Globe Winners

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 8, 2018

The 75th Golden Globes were handed out earlier tonight in Hollywood.

Despite moments of levity courtesy of host Seth Meyers, the recent outpouring of sexual misconduct allegations in the film and television industry gave the ceremony an air of solemnity. Nearly all in attendance complied with the Time's Up initiative's call to wear black, and many acceptance speeches addressed the progress made over the last couple of months and the change that still needs to happen.

Amongst the most memorable acceptance speeches were those by actresses portraying victims of abuse and inequality onscreen, like Nicole Kidman in Big Little Lies and Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid's Tale. The latter show also took home the trophy for Best TV Series (Drama).

In the major film categories, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri took home the prize for Best Motion Picture (Drama), while Lady Bird won the award for Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical). James Franco (The Disaster Artist), Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) and Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) took home the top acting honours.

Oprah Winfrey received the Cecil B. DeMille award for her "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment."

In the music categories, Alexandre Desplat won Best Original Score for his work on The Shape of Water. "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman won Best Original Song.
