"I've been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old," Tarantino previously told Deadline. "I'm very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don't exist any more."

The film centres on the murder of Tate by Charles Manson and his infamous followers. She and four others were murdered in Los Angeles on August 8, 1969. Tate was eight months pregnant at the time.

Manson died last November in prison at the age of 83.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is slated to hit theatres on August 9, 2019.
