See Kit Harington's Reaction to Reading the 'Game of Thrones' Finale Script for the First Time

Game of Thrones ended last week, but fans got a behind-the-scenes look at the finale last night (May 26) thanks to an HBO documentary special dubbed Game of Thrones: The Last Watch.

The spoilers-packed special showed fans how the episode was made, but one of the most affecting clips comes early on via footage from the final table read — when Kit Harington learns what his character Jon Snow does to Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen.

Upon realizing that he's to covertly stab his character's queen and lover, Harington puts his hands on his head, gasps and leans back in his chair, before turning red and tearing up.

Watch his reaction in the clip below.

It's probably how a lot of fans reacted upon seeing the shocking move on the series finale — except Rian Johnson, he totally saw it coming.

Harington wasn't the only cast member surprised by the ending, though. Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Brandon Stark, admitted that he thought his character's good fate at the end of Game of Thrones was a joke at first.

If you're still not over how the series ended, you can work through your GoT-related issues with weirdly specific counselling.
