As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the world, the cast of Schitt's Creek have started a fundraiser to help food banks support vulnerable and underprivileged populations. The GoFundMe fundraiser, "Schitt's Creek Gives Back," is seeking to raise $100,000 to be evenly distributed between two charities, Food Banks Canada and Feeding America

A statement on the GoFundMe page reads, "The coronavirus pandemic has impacted us all. During this unprecedented crisis, so many are focused on family, health, and security, while many of our neighbors are worrying about their family's meals."

The statement adds, "As the demand for food increases, food donations have decreased and volunteer shortages have increased costs. Food banks are under more pressure to ensure the vulnerable are still receiving vital food support."

Schitt's Creek star and co-creator Dan Levy took to the show's Instagram account to announce the initiative. To raise awareness for the fundraiser, a different cast member will go live on their personal Instagram accounts every day at 8 p.m. ET to provide live entertainment while also encouraging viewers to donate.

Details for each day's Instagram Live will be posted every morning on Schitt's Creek social media pages. Levy himself will kick off the fundraiser today.

In the two hours since launch, the fundraiser has already raised over $5,000 (as of press time) of the $100,000 goal.

The series finale of Schitt's Creek airs on April 7.
