Sarah Polley to Adapt Margaret Atwood for CBC/Netflix Miniseries

The ever busy Sarah Polley has just unveiled plans to work with another Canadian cultural giant, preparing to adapt Margaret Atwood's period piece Alias Grace for a new miniseries.

The Polley/Atwood team-up isn't the only dynamic duo pairing up for the project, either. The new show will be co-produced by the CBC and Netflix, with the former airing the series in Canada and the latter showing it worldwide.

The six-hour miniseries is based on a film adaptation of the book that Polley wrote four years ago. She'll serve as writer and producer, while American Psycho's Mary Harron will direct.

Alias Grace tells the true story of a double homicide committed by Irish immigrants living in Canada in 1843. It will begin shooting in Toronto this August.

Thanks to Deadline for the tip.
