Rugrats is the latest show to cash in on fan nostalgia with a revival. Nickelodeon announced that the beloved animated show has been revived for a new season, as well as an upcoming feature-length film.
Tommy, Chucky, Phil and Lil, Susie and Angelica will return to the small screen (along with some new characters) for a 26-episode run later this year. The new season also sees the return of the show's original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain.
In addition to the new season, Rugrats will also be returning to theatres. The gang will appear in a full-length film that will incorporate both CGI and live-action footage. It's due out on November 13, 2020.
The original TV series was on the air from 1991 to 2004. It went on to spawn full-length features The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie and Rugrats Go Wild.
Nickelodeon has also recently announced revivals of shows like Hey Arnold!, Rocko's Modern Life and Invader Zim.
