Peggy Lipton, known her prominent roles on Twin Peaks and The Mod Squad, has passed away following a battle with cancer. She was 72.

The sad news was confirmed by her daughters Kidada and Rashida Jones. They said in a joint statement to the Los Angeles Times, "She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side. We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her."

Lipton was originally diagnosed with colon cancer in 2004 and received treatment.

Lipton got her career breakthrough in the late '60s with her role on The Mod Squad, for which she won a Golden Globe. Decades later, she played Norma Jennings in Twin Peaks. She reprised the character when Twin Peaks returned in 2017.

Lipton took a lengthy hiatus from acting after marrying Quincy Jones in 1974 and starting a family. The couple eventually split in the late '80s, and Lipton had numerous roles in recent decades, including appearances on Alias.
