R.I.P. Municipal Waste/Career Suicide/Government Warning Member Brandon Ferrell

BY Josiah HughesPublished May 31, 2016

Brandon Ferrell, an intensely prolific performer in hardcore, punk and metal circles, has passed away. His cause of death is not yet known.

Ferrell's mark on independent aggressive music cannot be overstated. In addition to running the No Way Records imprint, he was a highly sought-after drummer, vocalist and guitarist, performing with the likes of Municipal Waste (of which he was a member from 2002 to 2004), Direct Control, Government Warning and Wasted Time, among many others.

It's also worth noting that Ferrell was momentarily a member of the Toronto hardcore punk band Career Suicide. He played drums on their classic 2006 LP Attempted Suicide, and also toured with the band as a guitarist.

Brandon Ferrell is survived by his wife Lauren and their two children.

News of Ferrell's passing was confirmed by Municipal Waste via Facebook. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

UPDATE (6/7, 11 a.m.): A GoFundMe page has now been set up to support Ferrell's widow and young child. You can learn about the campaign here
