R.I.P. Comedian Charlie Murphy

Comedian, writer and actor Charlie Murphy has died following a battle with leukemia. He was 57.

Murphy's manager confirmed the news of the comedian's passing this morning. Murphy had been undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Murphy is perhaps best recognized for his writing and acting roles on Chappelle's Show, in particular with his "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories" segment. As you can see in the player below, one of Murphy's most memorable bits saw him recall an evening of partying with Prince and Rick James.

Murphy also worked with his younger brother, Eddie, both on and off camera for films such as Norbit. He also had roles in Are We There Yet?, The Boondocks and Black Jesus.

Murphy's wife, Tisha Taylor Murphy, passed away in 2009 from cervical cancer. The couple had two children, while Murphy also had a child from a previous relationship.
