Piers Morgan Goes on Twitter Tirade Against Ewan McGregor After Cancelled 'Good Morning Britain' Appearance

Ewan McGregor is currently in the midst of a full-blown UK press cycle for T2 Trainspotting, but he had one less television appearance to make after some contentious comments from the host.

The actor was slated to appear on Good Morning Britain today (January 24), but backed out upon learning that Piers Morgan was one of the show's co-hosts. McGregor tweeted about his decision this morning:

Morgan retaliated, implying that McGregor was small minded, and "just an actor after all."

Good Morning Britain then aired Morgan's reaction to being "stood up," in which he claims, "Maybe actors should just talk about their films."

Morgan's Twitter feed has since devolved into a string of messages aimed at McGregor, including a link to his latest column for The Daily Mail, in which he claims, "Women's rights hero Ewan McGregor is a child rapist loving hypocrite who hates free speech" (referencing comments the actor has made about Roman Polanski in the past).

Prior to his tirade against McGregor, Morgan spent the weekend denouncing the Women's March as "an anti-democratic protest at Trump winning the presidency," criticizing Madonna's appearance and sticking up for his old Celebrity Apprentice, pal Donald Trump.

McGregor, meanwhile, lent his support to women (including his own daughters) who marched in solidarity against Trump on Saturday (January 21).
