Owen Pallett Scored a 'Heritage Minute' About Lucy Maud Montgomery

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 9, 2018

Prince Edward Island-born author Lucy Maud Montgomery gave Canadians one of their most beloved literary heroes with Anne of Green Gables, so it's only right that the woman was recently treated to her very own Heritage Minute by Historica Canada.

The clip tells the story of the author's life in words lifted from her journals, while showcasing some nifty period costumes and gorgeous PEI scenery. The whole thing was scored by another national treasure — Owen Pallett.

Meghan Greeley stars as Montgomery, while the rest of the crew was rounded out by cinematographer Bobby Shore, director Stephen Dunn, editor Bryan Atkinson and producers at Route Eleven.

It's a history lesson, a trip down memory lane for Canadian kids raised on the TV spots, and a treat for Pallett fans who are eager for new material. He debuted some new songs live last year and has since guested on tracks by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Blue Hawaii and Everything Is Recorded — but he hasn't released a full-length album since 2014's In Conflict.
