Among the latest video games to get a film reboot is Monster Hunter, which stars Milla Jovovich and is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. Now you can watch a seriously epic new trailer.

Jovovich plays Captain Artemis — a character made specifically for the film project. The character is military offer who finds herself in a world populated by colossal monsters (of course).

As Anderson explained during an appearance at New York Comic Con, it's all to help simulate what it's like for a beginner diving into the Monster Hunter video games for the first time.

"I came to the game not knowing anything about it. And as a stranger, I was immersed in this world containing these amazing landscapes and these amazing creatures that would kick my ass," Anderson said Variety. "That should be the filmgoing experience as well.'"

As you'll see, the monsters look insanely massive in the trailer, with some of the epic beasts including Diablos, Apceros and Nerscylla, among others.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower.

In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.

Watch the Monster Hunter trailer below and expect for the film to hit theatres on December 30 — if we're lucky.
