NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has been the subject of documentaries like the Oscar-winning Citizenfour, but director Oliver Stone has now given him the Hollywood biopic treatment with the upcoming Snowden.

Originally scheduled for a Christmas release date, the film has now been pushed back to May 13. Although Snowden will not be released in time for this year's awards race, Open Road Films is hoping to capitalize with a date at the start of summer blockbuster season.

The movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the title character, as well as a supporting cast that includes Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans and Nicolas Cage. The script was written by Stone and Kieran Fitzgerald.
