Netflix Unveils Premiere Date for 'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance'

After years of anticipation, Jim Henson and Frank Oz's beloved Dark Crystal is coming to Netflix this summer.

This morning, the streaming giant announced that all 10 episodes of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will arrive on August 30.

As previously reported, Age of Resistance takes place several years before the story of the 1982 Dark Crystal film, with a press release explaining "three Gelfling discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis' power [and] set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world."

The three lead Gelflings — Rian, Brea and Deet — will be voiced by Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nathalie Emmanuel, respectively.
 
Other characters will be brought to life by the likes of Helena Bonham-Carter, Eddie Izzard, Andy Samberg and Alicia Vikander.
 
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is directed by Louis Leterrier, and the creatures featured in the series were created by Brian Froud and the Jim Henson Company.
