The Crown — originally slated to end at its fifth season — has just been renewed for its sixth.
Netflix confirmed the news today via Twitter, writing that the series is now set to finish after Season 6.
"As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons," the platform stated.
Season 3 aired last winter before creator Peter Morgan revealed that he planned to end the show after Season 5. Season 4 has yet to air, but Morgan did confirm the return of Olivia Colman in her role as Queen Elizabeth II.
Season 5 will see Imelda Staunton taking over the role. So far, no word on who will play the head of the royal family for the last season.
