Published Nov 30, 2018Daredevil will not return to Netflix for a fourth season. The streaming service confirmed yesterday (November 29) that the recently released third season would be the show's last.
"We are tremendously proud of the show's last and final season and although it's painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note," Netflix said in a statement. "We're thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show's writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we're grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years."
Despite news of the show ending, Netflix did assure fans that the existing three seasons would remain on the streaming service for years to come. They also hinted that the "Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel."
Daredevil is the latest Marvel show to get axed by Netflix, following Luke Cage and Iron Fist. It's unclear if the "future projects" will include appearances by Charlie Cox's Daredevil character on remaining shows Jessica Jones and The Punisher, or if a new series will emerge in years to come.
Last year, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage joined forced for a miniseries called The Defenders.
