Nathan Fielder Trolls Austin Police Department with Fake Thank-You Cards

This is some 'Nathan for You'-level marketing

Canadian comic Nathan Fielder introduced the world to his expert-level trolling via his show Nathan for You, and now he's chosen a new target: the Austin Police Department. The comedian has brilliantly skewered the Texas officers with a elaborate photoshoot featuring dozens of fake thank-you letters.

Some background: this past Saturday (June 6), the Austin Police Department posted a photo on Twitter, showing all of the thank-you cards they had supposedly received following the city's Black Lives Matter protests. Upon closer examination, the photo is clearly staged, since of the writing on many of the cards is identical, making it clear that they were all written by the same person.

Fielder replicated this with his own photoshoot, filling his porch with a pile of near-identical thank-you cards and vapid messages. He even went so far as to fill up a few bags (labelled "MAIL") to really take the joke to the next level.

See the post below. Honestly, staging a fake photoshoot with phoney thank-you cards is exactly the kind of marketing strategy he might have suggested on Nathan for You.

Meanwhile, Fielder's outdoor apparel/Holocaust awareness brand Summit Ice has been matching donations to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, up to $40,000.
