My Little Pony is the latest children's show making an effort to reflect diversity by incorporating a same-sex couple into a new episode.

The episode, titled "The Last Crusade," is slated to air in North American tomorrow morning (June 15), and it will see the introduction of a lesbian couple, Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty, who arrive in Equestria to look after Scootaloo.

The new characters coincide with Pride Month, though the writers claim the timing was just a "happy coincidence."

Showrunner Nicole Dubuc told BuzzFeed, "I think it's fantastic that we can show that what truly defines a family is love — that, to me, is the core of My Little Pony."

Earlier this year, Arthur portrayed Mr. Rathburn's wedding to another anthropomorphic man in an episode called "Mr. Rathburn and the Special Someone."
