If you like biscuits, bunting and British accents, you already know that The Great British Bake Off is quite possibly the best reality show of all time. While it's achieved cult status in North America, the long-running program is a cultural phenomenon in the UK — and there are numbers to prove it.

Last night, bantering hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc returned alongside delightfully opposite judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood for Season 7. According to Deadline, the viewership numbers were astronomical.

The premiere brought in a mammoth 11.2 million viewers. That beats out another recent online competition show known as the Rio Olympics, which peaked with 11.1 million viewers in the UK.

Yes, British people love the shit out of their precious baking show, and we don't blame them. In the immortal words of Mary Berry, it's sheer perfection.
