Moby confused a lot of people with his recent description of his alleged past romantic relationship with Natalie Portman — including Portman herself — and now, he's decided to step out of the spotlight for a while, announcing the cancellation of his book tour.
In his recently released memoir, Then It Fell Apart, Moby bragged about "dating" a "20-year-old" Portman while she was attending Harvard University. She fired back, claiming that she was 18 during the brief time she knew the musician and described their relationship as "a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school."
Portman's portrayal of events caused a wave of backlash against Moby, who (following a string of defensive Instagram posts) apologized for the characterization of his and Portman's history.
Today, in a new post, Moby revealed that he is "going to go away for awhile."
Moby apologized once again and took responsibility for misrepresenting events in his book and not telling Portman about her inclusion in the book before its release.
"I am the one who released the book without showing it to the people I wrote about," he wrote. "I'm the one who posted defensively and arrogantly. I'm the one who behaved inconsiderately and disrespectfully, both in 2019 and in 1999. There is obviously no one else to blame but me."

He has since also cancelled all upcoming appearances in support of Then It Fell Apart.
A message on his website reads:
Moby is canceling all upcoming public appearances for the foreseeable future. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase, and Moby is happy to provide signed bookplates to everyone who bought tickets to these events.
His upcoming book tour dates included stops in the U.K. and Ireland.
