Mastodon's Brent Hinds Broke His Leg Starting a Motorcycle

Brent Hinds has been a busy six-stringer this year in working with both Mastodon and new supergroup Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, but he'll be taking things a little slower for the foreseeable future after breaking his leg on his motorcycle.

On Instagram last night (November 23), Hinds revealed the injury happened in trying to start the vehicle. "Broke my fucking leg starting my motorcycle goddamnit," he wrote in the caption. "Sorry to all the shows I was about to play with gto and west and more and fiend without a face. Life's a bitch then you die :( Happy thanking!"

The shows Hinds references were part of Giraffe Tongue Orchestra's tour. The band, which includes Alice in Chains' William DuVall and Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, have not stated whether they will find a replacement or not.

In the meantime, we'd like to wish Hinds the speediest of recoveries, and hope the accident doesn't affect the writing and recording of a follow-up to Mastodon's 2014 LP Once More 'Round the Sun.
