As an autobiographical film written by Shia LaBeouf — who plays his own dad in the project — one might expect Honey Boy to be a little too meta for its own good. The film sees Lucas Hedges play an adult version of a vaguely fictionalized Shia named Otis, while Noah Jupe is equally convincing as a child version of Otis a.k.a. Shia.
