Los Angeles Is Getting a Video Store That Only Carries 'Jerry Maguire'

BY Josiah HughesPublished Dec 13, 2016

How much do you love Jerry Maguire? Do you love it enough to visit a video store that only offers that one film on VHS? The wiseguys at Everything Is Terrible are wagering that you do, so they're opening an all-Jerry shop in Los Angeles.

Since 2008, the site has had their patented team of "Maguirewatchers" scouring thrift stores to obtain VHS copies of the 1996 classic. The long-running project means they've since amassed over 14,000 copies of the vid. One fan submitted 1,600 on his own.

From January 13 to 29, the tapes will go on display at iam8bit in Los Angeles. During that time, the shop will also host standup comedy and music performances.

The goal is to raise funds (and presumably gather more tapes) in order to build a permanent Jerry Maguire VHS pyramid in the desert. No really! Here's information about the pyramid in their own words:

EIT! will be unveiling the plans for their enormous, permanent pyramid in the desert where all the world's Jerrys will live until the end of time. Everything Is Terrible! has been working with a team of architects, engineers, and builders to design the epic monument to America's consumption. Now they need your help to make this stupid dream a reality. All proceeds from the Jerry Maguire Video Store will go towards the land, materials, and labor that are needed to build the Jerry Maguire Pyramid. If you can't come to Los Angeles, you can still help by making a financial donation at www.jerrymaguirepyramid.com and by mailing Jerrys to PO Box 50825, Los Angeles, CA 90050. This is the stupidest incarnation of the American dream and it must be realized.
