Lindsay Lohan Defends Harvey Weinstein in Instagram Story

Lindsay Lohan took to Instagram last night (October 10) to share her unpopular opinion about Harvey Weinstein.

In a video uploaded to her Instagram story, the actress defended the disgraced movie producer, saying she feels "very bad" for him. She continued, "I don't think it's right what's going on" — referencing the backlash against Weinstein (rather than the disturbing allegations of sexual harassment and assault that continue to pour out of Hollywood).

She followed it up with a second clip, embellished with text that simply reads "Harvey" next to an angel emoji. In it, she calls on Weinstein's wife, Georgina Chapman, to defend her husband; Chapman announced that she was leaving Weinstein yesterday.

"He's never harmed me or did anything to me," Lohan added. "We've done several movies together. I think everyone needs to stop. I think it's wrong. So, stand up."

The video has since been deleted by Lohan, but not before a diligent BuzzFeed editor grabbed the clip and shared it on Twitter. Watch it below.

Lohan's misguided support stands in stark contrast to a deluge of other celebrities who have come forth to publicly denounce Weinstein over the past few days. Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence and George Clooney have all issued statements praising the victims of sexual harassment for speaking out, while other stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have directly shared their experiences of being harassed by Weinstein.

The allegations against Weinstein were first made public in a New York Times exposé last week. A New Yorker piece published yesterday (October 10) revealed accusations of rape against Weinstein from multiple women, including actress Asia Argento.
