Lil Yachty Made the New 'Saved by the Bell' Theme Song and It's Awful

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 18, 2020

That they made a semi-woke, somewhat self-aware Saved by the Bell reboot is already some classic 2020 nonsense, so it really should have come as no surprise that it would arrive with a ridiculously corny theme song. But the new version of the show's tune, which is now performed by Lil Yachty, is next-level bad.

The rapper has always worked outside of the margins of traditionally "good" music, and it's often paid off (like on his debut mixtape Lil Boat). Here, however, he sounds like a man whimpering atop a half-finished demo that was exported incorrectly.

The track brings its stock drums to the very front, keeping the synths and samples sounding completely underwater. By the time Yachty sings the recognizable hook, you'll feel completely bewildered by the mix alone.

If you dare, you can listen to the new version of the Saved by the Bell theme song below. The show arrives on November 25 via Peacock.
