Published Aug 24, 2017The Toronto International Film Festival returns to the Six next month, and programmers have just announced a special addition to this year's already impressive lineup.
Lady Gaga will premiere a new documentary dubbed Gaga: Five Foot Two at the festival. The inaugural screening is set for September 8 at the Princess of Wales Theatre, followed by a performance from Gaga herself. Prior to TIFF, she is also scheduled to play the Air Canada Centre on September 6 as part of her "Joanne World Tour."
The Netflix original doc was directed by Chris Moukarbel, and it delivers "unfiltered, behind-the-scenes access" to the pop star, both on and off the stage, during the eight month period of recording last year's Joanne LP.
"Moukarbel's documentary offers an unprecedented look at Lady Gaga in full creative mode: the ideas, the emotion, the sheer work it takes to do what she does," TIFF artistic director Cameron Bailey said in a statement. "We're thrilled to be bringing this film to audiences in Toronto, and even more excited that Lady Gaga will follow the screening with a performance. This one is for all her fans, Little Monsters, and movie lovers alike."
Following TIFF, Gaga: Five Foot Two is expected to hit Netflix later on September 22.
