Lady Gaga Insists She and Bradley Cooper Are Not in Love (They're Just Good Actors)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 28, 2019

In addition to taking home the Best Original Song Oscar for "Shallow," Lady Gaga and her A Star Is Born co-star and director, Bradley Cooper, performed the track during the Academy Awards broadcast on Sunday (February 24). The sultry duet left many people believing the pair were as in love with each other off-screen as in the film — but Gaga maintains that they're just really good at acting.

She appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (February 27), and after showing off her Oscar, she addressed the rumours of a romance between her and Cooper. She responded by rolling her eyes and saying, "Social media is the toilet of the internet."

"People saw love — and guess what? That's what we wanted you to see," she continued. "This is a love song, 'Shallow.' A Star Is Born is a love story. We worked so hard, we worked all week on that performance… From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time."

She concluded: "I'm an artist, and I guess we did a good job. Fooled ya!"

An extended edition of A Star Is Born with 12 minutes of additional footage will hit theatres tomorrow (March 1).
