Ahead of the release of Dean Parisot's Bill & Ted Face the Music, the film's star, Keanu Reeves, has come forward with some information that might surprise fans.

In a new interview with AP Entertainment, the actor set the record straight about his and Alex Winter's titular characters' preferred method of partying. According to Reeves, the goofy pair aren't stoners — they're just naturally happy guys.

"I'd like to get one thing straight, Bill and Ted are not stoners, let's get that clear," he says in the video. "They have a nice outlook on life, they like people [and] their friendship."

In addition to this admission, Reeves also went a little deeper into the film's plot and elaborated on what he enjoyed about working on the film.

"In the course of the film, they're given this Herculean task of saving the universe and time as we know it. And they go into their future selves to try and find — and well, I don't want to give too much away," he said.

"For me, one of the most exciting aspects of this Bill & Ted story was getting to play different incarnations of ourselves."

After several delays and schedule changes, Bill & Ted Face the Music is now set to arrive this Friday (August 28).

In the film, Reeves and Winter are joined by Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine, who will play the titular characters' daughters. Kid Cudi appears in the movie as well.
