Published Mar 08, 2018Because our own nostalgia has doomed us to an eternity of Star Wars content, Disney has now added a live-action television series to its production slate.
Little is known about the series, though it will presumably take place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
That said, we do know who is on board to executive produce and write — Jon Favreau, a key figure in Disney's Marvel cinematic universe and their forthcoming Lion King remake, has taken the job.
"I couldn't be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform," said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement. "Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base."
Favreau added, "If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn't have believed you."
To be honest, that seems like the sort of thing an 11-year-old actually would believe.
