Joaquin Phoenix is set to star as the Joker in an upcoming Todd Phillips-directed origin film. While early images of the actor in character have made headlines, another story from the film's production is even more, well, twisted.

According to TMZ, the film's extras recently resorted to urinating on some train tracks after they were locked on a subway car for more than three hours.

Despite SAG's strict demands for a break every two hours, the rules were reportedly violated. Extras banged on the door of the car to relieve themselves, but in a move as sinister as the Joker himself, their cries were ignored.

As a result, they reportedly wound up urinating on the train tracks through the small spaces between subway cars.

SAG received a complaint about the break time violation, and it is now monitoring the set to make sure no other violations take place. Warner Bros. told TMZ that it is looking into the situation as well.

Joker hits theatres on October 4, 2019.
