John Carpenter Disputes Racist Reading of 'They Live'

They Live remains one of the strongest entries in director John Carpenter's long, legendary filmography. But while the film's dystopian message has stayed sadly relevant over the years, some have misinterpreted the story to have a much more racist tone.

Unfortunately, a handful of online cretins have suggested that They Live is actually a film coded with "anti-Zionist" messages that are intended to expose "Jewish Hollywood."

This theory has been passed around the grosser corners of the internet over the last few years, with multiple sites and videos hinting that the film is anti-semitic in nature.

Thankfully, John Carpenter has made sure to clarify that the film has nothing to do with race. The director took to Twitter and clarified his intentions with the film. Read his statement below.
