Joaquin Phoenix Just Got Arrested at Jane Fonda's Climate Change Protest

We all say "TGIF" in different ways. Some of us hit the town to get wasted with our friends while others opt to stay in and game while we wait for the takeout to arrive. For Jane Fonda and a growing group of celebs, however, Fridays are all about getting arrested in the name of protesting climate change. And this week's edition of the "Fire Drill Fridays" protest ended up being Joaquin Phoenix's turn to get booked.

Joaquin and fellow actor Martin Sheen were both arrested at the protest in Washington, D.C., after campaigning for a Green New Deal.

After speeches from Fonda, Sheen and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Phoenix spent his time at the mic urging people to combat climate change by going vegan. His brief words can be viewed below.

Fonda will lead the weekly protests every Friday until her and recent arrestee Tomlin will go back into production on their Netflix series Grace & Frankie.
