James Mangold Stole Dialogue from a Taco Bell Commercial and Used It in 'Logan'

Earlier this year, James Mangold delivered one of the strongest, strangest superhero movies we've ever seen with Logan. Of its many quirks, the release showcased Sir Patrick Stewart's Professor X obsessing over Taco Bell's quesalupa.

In a new interview with The Huffington Post, Mangold explained exactly why he included such cheesy dialogue.

"The funny story of why that dialogue's in there is, I was actually offered a Taco Bell commercial while we were in prep," Mangold said. "And while I was writing the scene, I was looking for Charles to say things — random things — that indicate that he'd been watching TV too much, and I literally had this Taco Bell commercial script on my desk for the new quesalupa from Taco Bell, and in my desperation to get pages done, I just took it and plugged it right in."

Hilariously, while Logan's quesalupa chatter was not a paid promotion, similar dialogue was released in a 2016 Super Bowl ad for the cheesy snack. Watch George Takei discuss its deliciousness below.
