Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in Film Adaptation of 'Tom Clancy's The Division'

Like them or not, there's no stopping the current barrage of videogame movies at the multiplex. This year has already brought us everything from The Angry Birds Movie to Warcraft, and there's no sign of slowing down. Up next in development is Tom Clancy's The Division.

The massively successful shooter will hit the big screen with a big-name actor in tow, as Variety reports that Jake Gyllenhaal is attached to star in the film. He'll also serve as a producer on the project.

For those unfamiliar with the game, it follows a Strategic Homeland Division agent who fights to help rebuild a criminal-controlled Manhattan after a smallpox outbreak.

The game made $330 million in its first five days on the market, so it's understandable why movie execs would jump at the chance to adapt it

This won't be the first videogame adaptation for Gyllenhaal, either. He starred in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2010.
