Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

Danny Leiner

John Cho (best known from the American Pie trilogy) is Harold and Kal Penn (best known from Van Wilder) is Kumar. Danny Leiner (best known for Dude, Where's my Car?) is the director and Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (best known for hanging in their basement getting stoned and watching American Pie, Van Wilder and Dude, Where's my Car?) are the writers.

If you enjoyed the entertainment value of the aforementioned movies, go see Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle. I, however, was going in with somewhat lowered expectations because I lost a roach in the alley behind the theatre.

As you would expect, the film is ear to ear with the usual mindless racial stereotypes, stoner jokes and bathroom humour that provides most of the laughs for these types of movies. As usual, it's the cameo appearances that are the best to watch — check out Anthony Anderson's (Barbershop, Me, Myself and Irene) bitter drive-thru clerk. Neil Patrick Harris continues to revive his career, playing a pilled-up version of himself; no really.

The highlight of the film has to be Kumar's dream sequence, which is so over the top it made me cry. Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle is another pushy, dirty little movie that also serves as one giant promo for White Castle burgers. If you take it for what it is, take lots of it and it's funnier.
